Forget what you think you should do for a moment. What would you actually like your future to look like? Explore opportunities, challenge limiting beliefs and start imagining new possibilities.

Taking Action

Big changes begin with small steps. Learn how to turn ideas into achievable goals, overcome obstacles and build the confidence to move forward.

Bring everything together. Recognise how far you've come, celebrate what you've achieved and develop your own personal plan for the next chapter.

Discover a Future in Domestic Retrofit

Could a career in making homes warmer, healthier and more energy efficient be right for you?

As part of Greener Futures, you'll complete our NOCN Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit training, giving you an introduction to an industry that is helping to transform homes across the UK.

With millions of existing properties needing improvements to their energy efficiency, the retrofit sector offers opportunities to develop new skills, gain qualifications and explore a range of career pathways.

You'll discover:

Why improving our homes is important for the environment and our future.
How buildings use and lose energy.
The insulation, ventilation and heating technologies used to improve homes.
How retrofit can reduce energy bills and create warmer, healthier living environments.
The different roles and career opportunities available within the retrofit industry.

No previous construction experience is needed. We'll introduce the subject in a practical, accessible way, helping you discover whether this could be an exciting new direction.

Where Could Retrofit Take You?

If the industry interests you, we'll help you explore further training and qualifications, including pathways towards becoming a Retrofit Advisor, Domestic Energy Assessor or Retrofit Assessor.

And if you discover that retrofit isn't the career for you? That's absolutely fine.

The knowledge you gain will still be valuable in everyday life. You'll better understand how to reduce energy bills, improve comfort and help prevent damp, condensation and mould in your own home or those of friends and family.

Whatever career path you choose, you'll leave with useful knowledge, new possibilities and a greater understanding of an industry shaping the future of our homes.

Who is Greener Futures for?

Greener Futures is designed for people who are ready to explore new possibilities, particularly those who are unemployed, looking to return to work or considering their next steps.

You don't need experience in construction or energy efficiency.

You don't need to have your future mapped out.

And you certainly don't need to have all the answers.

All we ask is that you bring an open mind and a willingness to participate.

Funded places are available for eligible learners, subject to the programme's funding criteria.
