Background

Qualification designed for Gas, Plumbing Installers who wish to the reposition, alter or extending the Protective Equipotential Bonding (PEB) conductor when changing the position of gas meters within a dwelling and associated outbuildings and locations.

Under the 16th Edition of the Electrical Regulations  formally known as the Main Equipotential Bond (MEB).

This  course is for operatives involved in the repositioning, altering or extending the Protective Equipotential Bonding (PEB) conductor when changing the position of gas meters within a dwelling and associated outbuildings and locations. It is both a practical and theoretical course.

Learners will

  • Legislation and Standards
  • Understanding the different types of electrical installations
  • Safe Isolation and working methods
  • How to reposition, alter and where necessary extend the PEB
  • The correct selection of, and safe use of the correct material for PEB
  • The correct testing of the PED and the issuing of certification to comply with the electrical regulations BS 7671 as amended

PEB is of a limited scope nature; where doubt or confusion arises on site regarding the electrical installation, advice should be sought from a competent electrical engineer prior to carrying out any work.

Pre-requisites

Candidates must possess as a minimum valid CCN1, CMA1, CESP1 or CCLP1 (PD) or any of the City & Guilds N/SVQ6012 qualifications with MET1. A knowledge of basic electrical principles would be an advantage but not essential.

Assessment method

Upon completion of the training candidates will be assessed by both practical and written tasks.
